Welcome to CT Down Syndrome Congress (CDSC) Holland Committee's website. We have just made available information for new parents diagnosed both prenatally and postnatally that their child has Down syndrome as well as updated our health and medical information geared toward the medical community.

Please visit our Holland Committee page for parents for information and resources that we are providing to both the expectant and new parent so that you too are aware of what questions parents are asking and what information they are looking for when found in that situation.

Also make sure you visit our updated Medical Resources page that contains a wealth of information specifically for Down syndrome. Everything from growth charts, medical checklists, research information and physicians guides to information on hearing loss and eyeglasses designed specifically for children wtih Down syndrome.

Besides accurate, up-to-date information on Down syndrome and raising a child with Down syndrome, one of the most important things for parents to hear is for the medical community to use People First Language. The People First site has 3 great resources on it - a one page short version, a quick reference chart and a Spanish version as well.

Our children are people first - not disability first. When talking to parents, it's "a baby with Down syndrome", not "a Down's baby".
